A widely spaced buttonhole stitch with a small knot sitting at the top of each leg, like a row of tiny pins. Work it in 5 passes: bring the needle up at each odd number and down at the even number after it.

What it is used forЗастосування
Borders and edgings, and a good imitation of a fringe. Do not confuse it with the edging stitch that carries its knot inside the loop at the base.

Step by stepКрок за кроком
- Work from left to right. Come up on the base line. Loop the thread over your left thumb, run the needle beneath it toward the thumbnail and let the loop slip from the thumb onto the needle. Put the needle in at the top of the leg and bring its point up on the base line, over the thread, as for a buttonhole stitch. Tighten the wrap down, then pull through: a leg with a knot at its top.Працюйте зліва направо. Виведіть голку на нижній лінії. - Make the next leg the same way, wrapping on the thumb before each one. Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки
- Pulling the needle through before tightening the wrap: the knot is loose and slides down the leg.Голку протягнуто раніше, ніж затягнуто виток: вузлик вільний і зсувається вниз по ніжці.
- Wrapping the thumb in the opposite direction: no knot forms and the wrap falls off. Practise the wrap with the needle out of the cloth first.Нитку обвито навколо пальця у зворотному напрямку: вузлик не утворюється, а виток спадає. Спершу потренуйте виток, коли голка поза тканиною.
