How to do a colonial knotЯк вишивати колоніальний вузлик

Bring the thread up where the knot will sit, wrap it around the needle in a figure eight — one side of the needle, then the other — and take the needle down right beside it, not into the same hole. Figure-eight wraps around the needle — a knot that sits higher and rounder than the French one.

Виведіть нитку там, де сидітиме вузлик, обкрутіть її навколо голки вісімкою — з одного боку голки, потім з іншого — і введіть голку впритул поруч, не в ту саму дірочку. Обкрути «вісімкою» навколо голки — вузлик сидить вище й кругліший за французький.

  1. The thread comes up where the knot will sit.Нитка виходить там, де сидітиме вузлик.
  2. Hold the needle above the cloth: slide it under the working thread from the inside, then take the thread over the needle’s point and under it again — a figure eight around the needle.Тримайте голку над тканиною: підведіть її зсередини під робочу нитку, а тоді накиньте нитку на вістря й заведіть під нього ще раз — «вісімка» навколо голки.
  3. The needle goes down right beside where it came up. Draw the knot down the needle snug onto the cloth, and keep the thread taut while you pull the needle through.Голка входить впритул поруч із місцем, де вийшла. Стягніть вузлик по голці щільно до тканини й тримайте нитку натягнутою, поки протягуєте голку.

Done. Beside a French knot the colonial one sits higher and rounder.
