Plain herringbone with two new threads run along it, one through the top crossings and one through the bottom, so the band gets two straight edges. Work it in 8 passes: bring the needle up at each odd number and down at the even number after it.

- Work a row of herringbone. Keep it even, for the threading will show every irregular crossing.Вишийте ряд ялинки. Робіть її рівною, бо переплетення покаже кожне нерівне перехрестя.
- With a tapestry needle and a second thread, come up to the right of the last top crossing, just below the upper edge. Pass beneath the leg on the right and across the top of the leg on the left, staying above the crossing, and on to the next. Touch the cloth only at the two ends: go down past the first crossing.Гобеленовою голкою виведіть другу нитку праворуч від останнього верхнього перехрестя, трохи нижче верхнього краю. Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки
- Going below the crossing instead of above it: the thread then falls into the V and no straight edge forms.Голка йде нижче перехрестя, а не вище: нитка провалюється в галочку, і прямий край не виходить.
