A square grid of crosses with a small diamond round every other one, drawn in a single dark line. Work it in 12 passes: bring the needle up at each odd number and down at the even number after it.

- This is double running: a line of even stitches going out, and the gaps filled on the way back, so that the line is solid and the back looks the same as the front. Start at the left and go out along the level line: one stitch over two threads on top, the next two threads underneath.Це подвійний шов «уперед голку»: лінія рівних стібків туди, а проміжки заповнюються на шляху назад, тож лінія суцільна, а виворіт такий самий, як лице. - Come back and fill the gaps. At the middle the route makes side trips along the upright arms and the diamond’s sides, each stitch lying over a space the thread has so far passed underneath. - Jumping across the back from one arm to the next: it shows through pale cloth and spoils a reversible piece.
