How to do ermine stitchЯк вишивати горностаєвий стібок
One upright stitch with a tall narrow cross over its lower half: it looks like the tails on heraldic ermine. Work it in 6 passes: bring the needle up at each odd number and down at the even number after it.

- Make a straight upright stitch. This is the spine of the tail.Зробіть прямий вертикальний стібок. Це хребет хвостика.
- Start the first slant to the left of that stitch, not far below its top, and end it to the right, not quite at its foot.Виведіть голку ліворуч, трохи нижче верхнього кінця цього стібка. Уведіть навскіс праворуч, трохи вище його нижнього кінця.
- Come up on the left, level with where you just went in and close to the spine. Go down diagonally to the right, level with the top of the last stitch. Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки
- A cross in the middle of the spine, or too wide: it stops looking like a tail and becomes a plain star.Хрестик посередині хребта або надто широкий: він більше не схожий на хвостик, а стає простою зірочкою.
- Carrying the thread far across a light cloth between tails: it shows through. Keep them close, or finish off.Довгий перехід нитки між хвостиками на світлій тканині просвічує. Ставте їх близько або закріплюйте нитку.
