How to do double back stitchЯк вишивати подвійний бекстіч
Two lines of back stitch on the front of a narrow band, and between them on the back a close herringbone that shows through a sheer cloth as a soft shadow. Work it in 10 passes: bring the needle up at each odd number and down at the even number after it.

- Mark both edges of the band. Come up on the upper line a stitch’s length from the start and go back to the start: a back stitch.Нанесіть обидва краї смуги. Виведіть голку на верхній лінії на довжину стібка від початку й поверніться до початку: це бекстіч.
- Slanting across the back, come up on the lower line and work a back stitch there. - Cross the back again to the upper line, a stitch farther along, and go down in the hole of your last stitch on that side. Carry on from edge to edge. Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки
- Knots and long tails on the back: on sheer cloth they show as dark dots. Use the holding stitches instead.Вузли й довгі кінці на вивороті: на прозорій тканині їх видно темними цятками. Краще закріпка крихітними стібками.
- Long stitches: the shadow pales as the thread spreads out across the back. Small stitches give a deeper colour.Довгі стібки: тінь блідне, бо нитка на вивороті лягає рідше. Дрібні стібки дають глибший колір.
