1. Mark a circle and work clockwise from the top. Come up on the edge and go down in the upper right of the four centre holes, leaving the thread loose. Come up on the edge a little further round, inside the loop, and draw it up. Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки

• Pulling too little: the holes stay closed and the bars never show. The thread must pull firmly enough to open the weave.Заслабкий натяг: дірочки не розкриваються, і перемичок не видно. Нитка має тягнути так, щоб розсунути переплетення.
• Letting a spoke stray into the next quarter’s hole: the cross comes out lopsided. Mark the quarters first.Спиця заходить у дірочку наступної чверті: хрестик перекошується. Спершу позначте чверті.
