How to do a Milanese staircaseЯк вишивати міланську сходинку
The Milanese triangle built from straight stitches instead of slanting ones: one, two, three, four — a staircase up, and the next group of four begins. This arrangement is our own reading of the name; other sources may show it differently. Work it in 8 passes: bring the needle up at each odd number and down at the even number after it.
Міланський трикутник, складений із прямих стібків, а не з діагоналей: один, два, три, чотири — сходинка вгору, і починається наступна четвірка. Саме таке розташування — наше прочитання назви; в інших джерелах воно може бути іншим. Усього 8 стібків: виводьте голку на лицевий бік у непарному номері й уводьте в наступному парному.

- A column of horizontal stitches, worked downward: the point over two cells, then four, six and eight, each one cell longer at both ends — a triangle.Стовпчик горизонтальних стібків, униз: вершина через дві клітинки, далі чотири, шість і вісім — кожен на клітинку довший з обох кінців. Виходить трикутник.
- The next column comes back up with its triangle turned the other way: the smallest stitch beside the longest, going down into the shared hole, so the triangles fit together.Сусідній стовпчик повертається вгору з трикутником, оберненим в інший бік: найменший стібок поруч із найдовшим, униз у спільну дірочку, — і трикутники зчіплюються.
Done. Column by column the triangles fill the canvas in straight vertical bands.

Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки
