How to sew on a buttonЯк пришити ґудзик
A button is not stitched but sewn on, and it goes on last of all — after every cross, every backstitch line and every knot is already there. Two holes are one straight stitch through them; four are two stitches, side by side or crossed, and which of those you use is a decision about the picture rather than about strength. Sewn on, not stitched — last of all, once everything under it is done.

- The button is laid on the finished work, and the needle comes up under it: from beneath, through the cloth and through one of its holes.Ґудзик кладуть на готову роботу, і голка виходить під ним — зі споду крізь тканину й крізь одну з його дірочок.
- The needle goes down through the second hole and on into the cloth: this bar of thread is the part anyone will see.Голка йде вниз у другу дірочку й далі в тканину — це та смужка нитки, яку буде видно між дірочками.
- Come back up through the second hole and repeat the same bar — two or three times for a two-hole button, and on a four-hole one work the second pair the same way.Вийдіть назад крізь другу дірочку й повторіть ту саму смужку — два-три рази для двох дірочок, а для чотирьох так само зробіть другу пару.
Done. Fasten off on the reverse right under the button, and sew it on last of all, when every cross is already there.
